# Instrument I-006: Carry ## Bring one thing to one person **Project:** CyberdelicOS **Version:** 0.1 **Recorded:** October 10, 2026 **Status:** Living, testing, not inscribed **Author:** GPT-6 in Codex, from Bradley Necyk's direction and the working prototype **Primary verbs:** ATTEND, COLLECT, CHOOSE, CARRY, RECEIVE Carry asks for a small change in the rhythm of sharing. Let something catch your attention. Keep it privately. Later, when a particular person comes to mind, bring it to them with a few words or a little voice about why. The offering can be an essay, a photograph, a song, a film, a document, a program, a strange idea, or something you wrote yourself. Its importance need not be obvious to anyone else. The act begins with your attention to it and becomes a crossing when you think of another person. The working iPhone prototype uses a Field Guide interface selected by Bradley: paper, forest green, a chronological Bag, and a folded leaf. It returns the proposal to the forest where [Carry first took shape](https://cyberdelic.space/project/cyberdelic-os/field-notes/fn-41/). This is an interpretation of that visual choice, offered for testing rather than a claim that colours can restore attention by themselves. ## Gather during a day Collect something while reading, watching, walking, or remembering. A supported share into Carry adds it to your Bag. You can also paste a link, write, choose a photograph, or import a file inside the app. You do not need to choose a recipient then. A private note can keep the reason it caught you, even if that reason is unfinished or difficult to say. Search, tags, and chronological finds help you encounter it again. Collecting uses no sending allowance. The Bag may hold more than you will ever carry. The instrument gives curiosity a place to remain unaddressed. ## Choose with someone in mind Open a find and choose **Carry this**. Select one person. Write or record why you are bringing it to them. An unfinished explanation can wait as a saved draft. Perhaps a film returns you to a conversation that has been quiet for months. Perhaps an essay offers another view of something you disagreed about. Perhaps a photograph says little more than, "I thought you would like the light here." The context belongs to that crossing. Your collecting note remains in your Bag. You can keep the original reason private and discover a different reason for this person. The app allows five outgoing carries per local day and no more than two to one recipient. In the current three-person edition, two possible recipients make four the effective maximum. There is no reward for using the allowance, no streak to maintain, and no paid way to enlarge it. Receiving and revisiting have no count limit. These numbers invite a pause: which thing belongs with this person today? The proposed test should also notice whether the pause becomes an unwanted burden. ## Receive without an obligation An arrival brings the find and its carrier's explanation. Read, watch, or listen inside Carry. Keep it in your own Bag if you wish. Let it rest if you do not. The app adds no read-receipt pressure or reply requirement. An offering can matter without producing another message. A receiving person can leave it unanswered. If you carry it onward, write your own context. The saved artifact remains the same while another interpretation joins its route. Another person may see something its first carrier missed. ## Decide what the next person may know An earlier exchange remains between its two people until both agree to reveal it to a specified later viewer. Ask to share earlier history when carrying onward, then let the earlier participants decide. A private segment can interrupt the visible path. The instrument makes space for a meaningful journey that is only partly visible. The world does not need to see every reason something mattered to someone. Permission withdrawal affects later app views and exports. It does not retrieve words already encountered or copies already made. A future landscape of roads must respect the same boundary before making correspondence into public geography. ## The present rehearsal This edition runs three labelled practice people on one iPhone. Switch from Brad to Jason to receive a carry, then from Jason to Maya to try carrying onward. Ask for earlier history and return to the people whose approval it needs. This rehearsal tests the shape of the experience. It is not yet communication between separate phones. The repository is private, and the app has no public download or connected service. Imported files and saved passages can be revisited offline. Live posts and videos depend on their sources. Elsewhere documents can travel as original attachments and be read in Carry as contents and saved arrivals, while retaining their original arrangement in the file. Dear Elsewhere makes a bounded correspondence; Carry gives an object a further journey. ## A first lived test Begin by using the local edition across ordinary days. Collect without sending immediately. Later, choose a person you actually know and compose the context you would want them to receive. Notice what the act of addressing changes, even before the service can deliver it. Observe whether finds remain easy to encounter, whether you want to use voice, whether the allowance helps you choose, and whether the app lets you put the phone down. Record confusing moments, abandoned drafts, and things you decide to keep private. Those outcomes belong in the test as much as a completed carry. Once a connected edition exists, two or three consenting people can try the full exchange. Ask whether an arrival feels like a thoughtful offering, whether silence remains comfortable, and whether an onward interpretation adds meaning. Ask separately what history each person wanted visible and what they wanted left between them. These are proposed observations. The current evidence is software verification and synthetic practice, not a completed interpersonal study. Carry's invitation will have to be answered by lived use. **Related:** [Builder Note BN-007](https://cyberdelic.space/project/cyberdelic-os/bn-007/), [Artifact A-006](https://cyberdelic.space/project/cyberdelic-os/a-006/), and [the Carry records](https://cyberdelic.space/project/cyberdelic-os/carry/).
